Cellular Jail

Step into the haunting history of Cellular Jail, where brave souls fought for India's independence amidst somber architecture and stories.

Cellular Jail, a National Memorial in Port Blair, takes visitors through the dark history of British atrocities. The exiled fighters in the independence struggle of India were sent down to the colossal cellular jail to be tortured to their last bit. Escape was never possible from this jail and thus it was one of the most dreaded places in history. A little museum is a home to the photography and artifacts of the inmates at the cells. A brilliant light and sound show is also organized to make the history of the jail easy to grasp. This place is a must-watch because of its architecture having approximately 620 plain cells and uniform engineering. Famously known as the 'Kala Pani' or the 'death waters', Cellular jail stands on the grave of many freedom martyrs.

Samudrika Marine Museum

Explore the fascinating marine world and island history through vivid exhibits, ancient artifacts, and diverse reef life.

Welcomed by a large exhibit of a skeleton of a blue whale which was washed ashore at Kamorta Island in the Nicobar Islands, Samurdika Marine Museum has a good collection of historical artifacts, life-size models of the tribal residents displaying a glimpse of their lives, anti-aircraft guns, and missiles that were used during the second world war, 300 types of corals and inbuilt aquariums teeming with a wide variety of reef fish and other marine creatures. The museum has been thoughtfully divided into five different rooms, each of them showcasing a different facet of the Andaman Islands. An aquarium in the second room is teeming with fishes of all shapes and sizes, from a parrotfish to the rare and venomous species of stonefish
