Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, is the largest city and former capital of Myanmar (Burma). This vibrant city is located in the southern part of the country, along the eastern bank of the Yangon River, which flows into the Gulf of Martaban. Yangon covers an area of approximately 598.75 square kilometers and serves as the main gateway to Myanmar for international visitors.
