Coron, sitting up in the northern part of Palawan, feels like a place that belongs on postcards. The first thing most travelers notice is the sharp limestone cliffs rising straight out of blue-green water. It doesn’t look real until you’re there. The pace is slow, boats come and go, and every corner seems to lead to another lagoon or hidden beach. People talk a lot about Kayangan Lake, and for good reason — the water is so clear you can see the rocks under your feet. Twin Lagoon is another favorite, where you swim through a small opening to find yourself in a quiet, otherworldly pool. Coron is also known for shipwreck diving; World War II wrecks now covered in coral make it one of the top dive spots in the Philippines. For a break from the water, you can hike up Mt. Tapyas. The steps are steep but the sunset over the bay is worth the climb. Day trips to nearby islands like Malcapuya or Banana Island give you powdery sand and calm swimming spots.
