Grad Zagreb, or the City of Zagreb, is the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Croatia. It is located in the northwest of the country, along the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountain, and spans across the banks of the Sava River. Covering an area of approximately 641 square kilometers, the city has a population of around 800,000 inhabitants, making it a vibrant and bustling metropolis. Geographically, Grad Zagreb is divided into 17 districts, each with its own unique charm and character. The city, as we know it today, began to develop in the Middle Ages, with the establishment of two separate settlements: Kaptol, the religious center, and Gradec, the merchant and artisan center.
