The Plzeň Region, also known as the Pilsen Region, is a captivating and historically rich area located in the western part of the Czech Republic. Covering an area of 7,561 square kilometers, it is bordered by Germany to the west, the Karlovy Vary Region to the north, the Ústí nad Labem Region to the northeast, the Central Bohemian Region to the east, and the South Bohemian Region to the south. The region is divided into 7 districts and comprises a population of approximately 585,000 inhabitants. The administrative center and largest city of the region is Plzeň, which is the fourth most populous city in the Czech Republic. Geographically, the Plzeň Region is characterized by a diverse landscape that includes the lush Bohemian Forest (Šumava) in the south, the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory) in the northwest, and the Brdy Mountains in the east.
