Welcome to Skövde, a charming city located between the two biggest lakes in Sweden - Lake Vänern and Lake Vättern. The blooming mountain Billingen, situated close to the city center, offers a plethora of activities such as cross-country skiing, walking trails, small fishing lakes, and a ski slope. The beautiful Vallebygden with green hills, waterfalls, and lakes is also located here. You can stop by one of the many local artists and craftsmen to admire their work. Skövde is also rich in history, with grave fields, medieval churches, and unique stone settings scattered around the city. Legend has it that Skövde became a trading center in the 12th century when pilgrims came to honor Sweden's first female saint, S:t Elin or Helena. The tomb of Elin and the spring that was born at the place where she was killed became a destination for pilgrims and traders, making Skövde a natural meeting point. Getting to Skövde is easy as it takes only an hour from Gothenburg and two hours from Stockholm by train. The city is home to many small shops and several big shopping malls with over 300 stores.
